Where is Mylopotas Beach?

Located on the west coast of Ios Island, Mylopotas Beach is approximately 3 kilometres from Chora (Ios Town) A 20min walk down/up hill or only a short bus ride/drive from the center or port.

Stretching for almost one kilometre, it is one of the largest and most beautiful beaches in the Cyclades, and offering the best swim spots in Ios! just off the rocks at Harmony’s door step.
Offering calm swimming conditions, spectacular views across the Aegean Sea and a relaxed atmosphere that changes naturally throughout the day.

Unlike many Greek beaches, Mylopotas combines natural beauty with convenience. Everything you need—from swimming and watersports to sunset dining and evening entertainment—is within easy walking distance.

How to Get to Mylopotas Beach

Getting to Mylopotas is simple.

By Bus;

During the months of June – Aug, regular buses operate every 15mins between Chora and Mylopotas throughout the day.

By Taxi, from Chora takes around five minutes.

By Scooter, ATV or Car. Hiring a scooter, ATV or small car is one of the best and easiest ways to explore the island and something we highly recommend doing for your stay in Ios.

Parking is available close to the beach, although it fills quickly during July and August.

On Foot.
Many walk from Chora to Mylopotas but you must be aware that its a step decline/inclinde and ofcourse in the hottest months – its a sweaty walk to say the least but great for getting your daily exercise and steps in.

If you enjoy walking, the journey from Chora takes approximately 20 minutes and offers beautiful panoramic views across the bay.

Local Tip

If you’re visiting during July or August, arrive before 11:00 am to enjoy a quieter beach and easier parking.

Early mornings also offer some of the clearest water you’ll experience all day.

When is the Best Time to Visit?

One of the reasons visitors fall in love with Mylopotas is that every part of the day offers something different.
